Debate: Trump vs Clinton

After the elections in the United States of America, some of our students had a lot to say...

Students from 3 ESO to 2 Batx organised a debate on who should be the next President. The class were divided into three parts. One part of the class argued in favour of Hillary Clinton and another for Donald Trump. The third part of the class was ´Undecided´and had to challenege Trump and Clinton.

A lot of students had opinions on this subject and many of them were very good actors. Some even had fun pretending to be Trump and Clinton!

Arguement from a 2 Batx student in favour of Clinton:

´´I´m the best choice for president because...
- I want to continue with Obama´s projects
-I have a lot of experience in politics
-I am aware of the social issues, like women discrimination and the unfair conditions that workers have to face, the danger of the possibility of buying guns easily and having them in public and global warming
-my idea´s are not as radical as Mr Trump´s. One of them is building an economy for everyone, not just the top 1%
-I believe in equality. I will never build a wall or discriminate people by their gender or social status´´ 

Halloween 2016

Now that October is finished, it means that the holiday of Halloween is finished too. At home in Ireland, Halloween is a very popular event because it can be celebrated by people of all ages.

Many young children dress up as scary characters, for example as a Witch, a Vampire or a Ghost. Others dress up as their favorite fictional characters, such as Harry Potter or character´s from Star Wars. Usually the children will knock on the doors of their neighbours in their town and ask them, ´Trick or Treat´. After one night, they can earn a lot of sweets and chocolate!

But it is not just children that enjoy Halloween. Students at university and other adults also dress up in different costumes, often trying to win competitions. It is usual for groups of friends to come together to have a party. At these parties they eat, drink and play games, such as ´Bobbing for Apples´.

I think that a lot of people in my country enjoy Halloween because it is an opportunity for all the friend´s and family to come together. So maybe next year, you can also celebrate Halloween with Castanyada. I don´t think you will be disappointed!
